hello, Nice to meet you! I’m Natalie and this is my pup Penelope, aka P. I’m the owner of The Sunday Dog - a curated shop for you + your best friend(s).
The Backstory
I always wanted to start my own business since I was a young girl. I continued to crave the freedom, creative outlet, and ability to make an idea come to life well beyond my lemonade stand days. I’ve also always had a love of animals - particularly dogs! My bedroom wallpaper growing up was 101 Dalmations and I even had the bedding set to match (*cue the 90’s music!).
I think there is something humbling about the unconditional love a pet brings into your life. I love being able to leave my house, forget my wallet, walk back in one minute later, and be greeted by the happiest tail wags and yips like I’ve been gone for a year- it’s just the best!
The fact that I get to marry two of my biggest passions - entrepreneurship and Pets truly feels like a dream come true.
How we got started
The Sunday Dog all started in my kitchen in Beaverton, Oregon - One day I was on the hunt for quality-made, trendy accessories for P. I was shocked at how hard I had to dig to find the right bandanas for her!
As I stated before, I always had a yearning to start my own business but was waiting for the right idea to come to me. That night, after struggling to purchase anything for Penelope, it dawned on me - I could use my retail buying background, love of animals, and passion for crafting to start my own dog accessories shop! I called my friend to come over and told her about my idea. Within an hour we had hit the fabric store, got to cutting on my kitchen cutting board, and fired up my mom’s sewing machine. The rest is history!
